Hands-On Training: Explore Vascular Device Testing, Benchtop Simulation & Bioprinting at ATU Ireland

Applications are open! Join the second STEP4NAMs ENABLE On-Site Training on 26 November 2026 at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Galway, Ireland.

As a partner in the STEP4NAMs project, Biovia is pleased to share this hands-on training opportunity with medtech innovators.

What’s on the programme?

The training is structured as a full-day programme combining introductory context, hands-on lab work and applied strategy sessions.

Participants will:

  • gain an overview of STEP4NAMs and ATU's Medical & Engineering Technologies (MET) Centre

  • explore NAMs in the context of MedTech preclinical evaluationset up and operate vascular in vitro test systems

  • navigate and deploy devices under real-time fluoroscopy imaging, including clot retrieval scenarios

  • work with bioplotter-based fabrication to produce anatomically relevant vascular models

  • develop 2D/planar navigation models and discuss how bench-top testing fits into regulatory development pipelines

The training is delivered by Dr Eugene McCarthy, Dr Joaquín Penide, Dr Janice O'Sullivan, and Dr Kohyar Yazdanpanah Ardakani — all specialists in biomedical engineering and vascular device testing at ATU.

Who should apply?

This training is designed for MedTech SMEs and start-ups, particularly those developing or testing endovascular and minimally invasive medical devices.

Places are limited to just 10 participants!

Ready to join? Complete the free STEP4NAMs Core Module and apply through the Moodle platform. Sub-Module 4: Benchtop Simulation Systems must be completed before attending.
