Future COOCK+ project Tech4Wellbeing needs your input!

The European Accessibility Act (EAA) – official title: Directive (EU) 2019/882 on accessibility requirements for products and services – requires that certain products and services be accessible to people with disabilities. This applies, amongst other things, to e-commerce, banking services, smartphones, computers, e-books, ticket machines and certain transport services. The requirements will apply across the EU from 28 June 2025. This legislation need not be a burden; rather, it offers an opportunity to create a larger market for products and services.

We, researchers from Artevelde University College, the Digital Society Institute at KU Leuven, Thomas More Kempen and UC Leuven-Limburg, wish to explore how we can better support the business community through practical advice, guidelines, checklists, suggestions, etc. Does this appeal to you as a Flemish technology SME interested in developing (assistive) products for the welfare sector, amongst other things? Then we would love to talk to you! After all, we aim to develop appropriate support to better assist you as software developers, thereby reducing failure costs through better design decisions, achieving greater reusability and scalability of solutions, or establishing a ‘compliance-by-design’ framework (GDPR, ethical standards, EU AI Act, EU European Accessibility Act, etc.).

The results of these discussions will be used to submit a project proposal to VLAIO to address these needs in collaboration with you.
Please subscribe here to leave your info and/or announce yourself as member of a round table to be held on Octobre 16th at Leuven from 10h to 12h on this topic

MARA COOCK+ project is looking for advisory board members!

Join the MARA advisory board in a new COOCK+ project proposal aiming to help medtech and digital health companies make better market access decisions from the earliest stages of product development. The project will develop practical, open tools and an Early HTA methodology that connect clinical need, evidence generation, health economics, reimbursement, procurement, adoption and investment readiness. By integrating these decisions earlier, MARA will support companies in reducing development risk and accelerating successful market access, in line with the Biovia Market Acceleration Roadmap.

The consortium is looking for medtech and digital health companies, from start-ups and scale-ups to established SMEs, that are developing innovative healthcare solutions and are willing to share their market access challenges, provide feedback on the methodology and help ensure the project delivers practical value for the broader ecosystem.

ORGANO-FLOW COOCK+ project is looking for advisory board members!

ORGANO-FLOW (From Question to Model: accelerating industrial adoption of organoid and organ-on-chip models) is a COOCK+ project proposal that aims to make it easier for companies to select, access and implement organoid and organ-on-chip models in their R&D. The project will translate existing expertise into practical, open tools for choosing fit-for-purpose models, setting up workflows and navigating the ethical, legal, regulatory and collaboration pathways around patient-derived models. By combining KU Leuven’s expertise in organoids, organ-on-chip and patient-derived biobanks with Biovia’s industry and European NAM network, ORGANO-FLOW will help companies adopt more human-relevant models and reduce barriers to replacing or reducing animal testing.

The consortium is looking for pharma, biotech, food, nutrition, microbiome and health-tech companies, from start-ups and scale-ups to established companies, that are using or considering organoid or organ-on-chip models and are willing to share their challenges, provide feedback on the tools and potentially contribute a demonstrator case.
